Uncoated stainless steel fasteners will not product red rust, but can start a galvanic reaction if exposed when fastening aluminum or steel. This reaction can damage the screw or the application material, causing a sudden joint failure even if the damage is not visible to the naked eye. Elco's Stalgard coating provides excellent resistance to exposure to moisture, even salt spray, and provides a barrier to the surrounding materials, all to prevent galvanic reactions.
